ETC Snapshots is a series of reports on select travel segments and markets prepared by the ETC Executive Unit. These lean reports provide a quick overview of travellers’ characteristics, the likes and dislikes of their holiday experience and their satisfaction with Europe compared to competing regions. Key recommendations are also provided in the aim of providing support to ETC’s members.

This report deals with the family traveller. Nowadays, spending time with family and loved ones is becoming a challenge and travel has increasingly served as an opportunity to share memorable experiences. In Europe families account for 31% of all households while in the United States they account for 32%. Family travellers demand more added value than just favourable pricing. Safety and seeing new things is critical while customisation is sought after. This travel segment is not static and new trends are emerging. There is a need to better understand the family travellers, as they make up the largest segment of the leisure travel market.

The report is available for ETC members only, the download from this website is not possible.
