As one of the fastest-growing segments in the tourism industry and generating millions of revenues, the Meetings Industry has received increased attention from countries and cities alike. With new destinations making way into the sector, competition for market shares in Europe and worldwide has become fierce. Consequently, an in-depth understanding of the key factors that influence the decisions about where to hold meetings, conventions and incentives has become crucial.

In this context, ETC and UNWTO invite you to attend this International Seminar which has been organized based on the brand new ETC-UNWTO Study on the Decision-Making Process of Meetings, Congresses, Conventions and Incentives Organisers.

The ETC-UNWTO International Seminar is aimed at tourism professionals to help them take full advantage of the opportunities in the meetings, congresses, conferences and incentives industry. The seminar will address key issues such as:

  • Global and regional trends on the MCCI sector
  • The decision-making process of MCCI organisers
  • Key elements for a successful MCCI destination

Senior Associate – Europe, Middle East and Africa, Gaining Edge

Based in Paris, Bruce Redor is an anglo-american who has seen his international career develop over a 25-year period in a variety of sectors within the services, hospitality and meetings industries.
Over the last few years, Bruce has developed an independent consulting practice and is a partner at GainingEdge, covering the EMEA region. Bruce is currently managing the European Sales team that is coordinating sales representation in Europe for the South Africa National Convention Bureau.

MARTIN SIRK

CEO, ICCA-International Congress and Convention Association

He has worked in Hong Kong, the USA, the UK, and for the last twelve years has been based in Amsterdam at ICCA Head Office, but travels extensively in all regions of the world to engage with ICCA’s membership of over 1,000 companies and organisations from 95 countries. He has extensive experience working in national and city destination marketing organisations, congress centres, and with a leading global hotel brand, and is an acknowledged expert in the design and organisation of international congresses and the trends that are shaping the future of the meetings industry.

  • Director of International Relations, IMEX

    He currently works with IMEX as Director of International Relations, with special responsibilities, for helping to raise the political profile of business tourism within Government circles around the world.

    In 2011, he was awarded the ICCA Moises Schuster Award for outstanding services to the industry and in 2014, he was given the Unity Award by the Joint Meetings Industry Council.
