This course is a collaboration between ETC and SUNx Malta – an EU based NGO supported by the Government of Malta – designed especially for ETC Members.
It gives a broad introduction to the nature and intensifying impacts of the “Code Red” Climate Crisis, the specific tourism implications and the actions SUNx Malta is developing and curating to help communities and companies become climate resilient and reduce emissions.
It provides a special focus on the evolving European green and clean regulatory and operational framework, as well as an overview of Climate Friendly Travel (CFT) – SDG/Paris 1.5 linked, as a support for the essential transformation that all of society has to make.
The first lesson looks at the reality of the Climate Crisis, its impact on tourism and government & industry actions being taken in response, particularly in Europe, the government framework shaping that response, with a focus on the UN Climate and Sustainability Roadmaps.

It also covers community building by Strong Climate Champions and support services from SDG 17 Partners.

Visit WebsiteThe fourth lesson reviews emission reduction issues, COP targets, the Glasgow Declaration and subsequent related actions. A major focus is on Resilience and Adaptation. Looking across the entire sector, this video gives a more detailed analysis of the challenges and opportunities for aviation. It also takes a look at offsets which play such an important part.
