European Tourism Trends & Prospects is a series of quarterly reports that offer a concise analysis of key economic and tourism trends in Europe and in relevant outbound markets. Quarterly reports are meant to provide the know-how necessary to monitor the short-term development of European tourism.
Tourism Economics will reflect on the latest travel performance in Europe during the summer and highlight key trends that have emerged. This will be supported by further insights from MMGY-TCI Research, focusing on traveller sentiment over the past year. Chloe is a Lead Economist with Tourism Economics, specialising in European tourism forecast services. On top of forecasting, she takes a key role in European consultancy work including regular outputs for the ETC and STR. She previously worked on both the industry and macro services within Oxford Economics for seven years where she developed her skills in forecasting, modelling, data visualisation and bespoke consulting work.
Diego Maldonado, a seasoned traveller and Senior International Analyst at MMGY-TCI Research, has spent the past year delving deep into the dynamic world of travel and tourism data. With a background in international project management spanning several years, Diego’s true passion lies in weaving together diverse data sources to craft compelling narratives.
Menno van IJssel is currently project manager in the research department of the European Travel Commission (ETC), a non-profit organisation representing the national tourism organisations of Europe. In that capacity, Menno works on various research projects identifying key trends and opportunities for European tourism. He contributes to ETC’s key research publications and webinars, ranging from the monitoring of tourism flows, to tracking tourist sentiment and behaviour, to analysing sustainability indicators. His passion lies in understanding how people travel, where they go, and for what reasons. Prior to his work at ETC, Menno obtained a bachelor’s and master’s degree in the field of Tourism in his home country the Netherlands.
