ETC WEBINAR: STEP-BY-STEP FRAMEWORK FOR SUSTAINABLE TOURISM

The European Travel Commission (ETC), representing 32 national tourism organisations in Europe, has published a new handbook ‘Sustainable Tourism Implementation: Framework and Toolkit’. This handbook is for European National Tourism Organisations (NTOs) to support their efforts to develop national approaches that advance sustainable tourism, and is freely available to everyone including non-ETC members. Come and listen to the experts who developed the handbook, who will introduce the 7-step framework and provide practical tips, examples and insights for NTOs and other organisations seeking to improve national sustainability outcomes.

Jana Apih

With experiences in marketing, strategic planning of tourism in destinations and implementation of sustainable tourism. At the moment managing institute Factory of sustainable tourism GoodPlace responsible for development of the national certificate programme Slovenia Green. In eight years of experience GoodPlace become an international partner on sustainable tourism focusing on implementation of sustainable management of tourism on all levels from country, regions, destinations to business based on the experiences implemented in Slovenia. GoodPlace also runs Association of certified destinations and business in Slovenia and has a partner role in travel agency Visit GoodPlace which is putting the green products on the market. 

Ben Lynam

Ben is Head of Strategic Communications at the Travel Foundation, a sustainable tourism charity based in the UK, which works with businesses and destinations across the globe to improve tourism’s impacts. He has been with the Travel Foundation for almost 9 years and has been involved in projects such as developing the Travel Foundation’s “Invisible Burden” report with Cornell University in 2019, and setting up the Future of Tourism Coalition in 2020.

Rachel McCaffery

With a Masters Degree in Sustainable Tourism and 15+ years spent working for major travel companies such as  Virgin Atlantic, Thomas Cook, STA Travel and G Adventures, Rachel established Green Case Consulting in 2012 and has extensive experience working with destinations at local, regional and national level. She has been instrumental in the development of numerous international tools such as the Travelife Sustainability Scheme for Accommodation,  the European Tourism Indicator System,  ABTA’s Global Animal Welfare Guidance and the ETC  Sustainable Tourism Implementation Toolkit.
