UNWTO-ETC DataLab Webinar: Measuring Resident Satisfaction

The webinar will demonstrate how actionable insights can be obtained from measuring resident satisfaction, how NTOs can use the insights within their organisations, as well as challenges and opportunities associated with using such data sources.

Representatives from Fáilte Ireland, Angus & Associates, Czech Tourism and The Data Appeal Company will present their projects focused on using these data sources and highlight how it has helped their organisations with strategic decision making.

Vanessa Mack

Vanessa is an Insights Officer on the Economic & Industry Analysis team in Fáilte Ireland, the national tourism development authority in Ireland.

Vanessa manages the Community research project for Fáilte Ireland which monitors residents’ attitudes towards domestic and overseas tourism. Vanessa is also responsible for tracking and reporting on air and sea access to the Republic of Ireland as well as on accommodation stock.

Vanessa has also been working on generating new tourism insights using big data by looking at tourist movement patterns. More recently, Vanessa has been involved in one of Fáilte Ireland’s key Climate Action projects setting up a tourism carbon footprint monitor and providing businesses with international sector-specific benchmarks.

Carolyn Parker

Carolyn is a skilled research professional with related qualifications and considerable experience in tourism and leisure research. She has worked for Angus & Associates, based in New Zealand, since 2005 – currently as Research Director. Angus & Associates is provider of research, market intelligence and strategic business planning services for the tourism industry, primarily in New Zealand but also in other markets.

Carolyn has a thorough knowledge of the research process and the tourism sector. She is actively involved with the New Zealand tourism industry, currently serving as a member of the New Zealand Tourism Data Leadership Group. Carolyn is responsible for many of Angus & Associates’ major programmes of research, such as the Views on Tourism and Visitor Insights Programme, providing specialist expertise in research design, data analysis and interpretation, contributing to rich, useful insights for clients.

Since 2019 Carolyn has been working with Fáilte Ireland to measure resident sentiment towards tourism activity using Angus & Associates’ Views on Tourism© research methodology. Angus & Associates also conducts Views on Tourism research in New Zealand and Australia, providing valuable benchmarking opportunities.

Mirko Lalli

Mirko Lalli has always been involved in innovation, technology, communication and marketing.
He served as Director of Corporate Communications of Clouditalia SpA, Chief Executive Officer of AR-tel SpA and Marketing and Communications Director of Fondazione Sistema Toscana (Tuscany Region).
He was a member of the Tourism Innovation Committee of the Ministry of Tourism and in December 2017 he participated in the Singularity University Executive Program in Silicon Valley.
He is the founder and CEO of The Data Appeal Company SpA (formerly Travel Appeal), acquired in 2022 by Almawave Spa, a company listed on the Euronext Growth Milan market of Borsa Italiana and part of the Almaviva Group. Data Appeal democratises and simplifies data to help companies and institutions make effective and informed decisions. The company’s ultimate goal is to leverage data to accelerate progress towards a more sustainable, fair, and inclusive world.

Petr Janeček

He graduated from the Faculty of Economics of the University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice with a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in economics and management, specialising in Tourism. In 2017, he obtained a Ph.D. at the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen. In 2022, he became a professor assistant of International Economic Relations at the University of Economics in Prague. Now he continues his university career as a professor assistant. At the same time, he holds the position as Head of the Institute of Tourism at the national tourism board – Czech Tourism. His focus is on topics related to tourism marketing and management. More specifically, he deals with destination marketing and management, cooperation and tourism services, tourism branding, etc. He has written several articles in professional journals and scientific conferences and has led several research projects in tourism. He is a member of professional associations and societies (e.g. SVECR, AIEST).
