The webinar will demonstrate how actionable insights can be obtained from mobile positioning data, how NTOs can use the insights within their organisation as well as challenges and opportunities associated with using geolocation data sources.
Representatives from Breda University of Applied Sciences, the Polish Tourism Organisation, the Spanish National Statistics Office (INE) and Telefónica will present their projects focused on using this data source and highlight how it has helped their organisations with strategic decision making.

Dr. Ondrej Mitas researches tourists’ emotions at Breda University of Applied Sciences. His goal is to guide the tourism industry, governments, and tourists themselves to make choices that will optimize their enjoyment of life. His research explores the psychology of tourist and leisure experiences with a focus on emotions and well-being and quality of life outcomes. He examines positive emotions in leisure and tourism experiences over time and the mechanisms of enjoyment, positivity, and flow in tourism and leisure experiences, and innovative research methods using longitudinal, biophysical, and mixed-method approaches.
Ms. Joanna Węglarczyk has worked in tourism research since 2004, firstly at the Institute of Tourism, then at the Polish Tourism Organisation. At present, as a director of the Strategy and Development Department, responsible for planning, reporting and market research of both tourism demand and supply. She is especially interested in consumer research regarding tourists’ behaviours and the image of Poland as a tourist destination.
Aleksander Luchowski is an expert in strategy, marketing, project management, EU financing, negotiations and restructuring. He has over 20 years of experience in managing companies in such industries as finance, investments, real estate, marketing and sales. He was the vice-president of the City Hall of Szklarska Poręba, where he was responsible for management and coordination of the departments: financial, economic development and marketing. He created from scratch consulting companies dealing with: obtaining grants from the EU (SmartConsulting) and consulting in the field of energy saving and environmental protection (SmartEnergy). He managed business transformation projects in leading development companies in Poland (Murapol S.A.; Polnord S.A.). Member of the management board and co-founder of Selectivv, where he is responsible for data departments.
Mrs. María Velasco Gimeno has a Degree in Mathematics from Complutense University, Madrid. She has worked at the Spanish National Statistics Institute (INE) since 2001. As Head of Unit for Tourism Statistics, since 2005, she is in charge of tourism statistics from the supply side, the demand side (inbound, outbound and domestic tourism flows and expenditure), Tourism Satellite Accounts and is coordinating Experimental Statistics in the field of tourism.
Elena is a mathematician and defines herself as passionate about data. With more than 15 years of experience in the planning, execution and monitoring of analytical and geomarketing projects, working the last 8 in Big Data environments. She is currently Manager of the Center of Excellence in the IoI & Big data unit at Telefonica Tech.
Juan is a bilingual graduate in Business Administration and Management at CUNEF and has a Master’s in Digital Transformation at ISDI with 4 years of experience as big data project manager leading projects in tourism, mobility, retail and audience at the LUCA Center of Excellence which is part of Telefónica Tech.
