The webinar will demonstrate how actionable insights can be obtained from the use of new digital tools and technologies, how NTOs can use the insights within their organisations, as well as challenges and opportunities associated with these new tools and technologies.
Representatives from Sojern, Murmuration and MODUL University Vienna will present their projects focused on using such new tools and technologies and highlight how it can help organisations with strategic decision making.

Tarek Habib is a telecommunication engineer with a PhD in artificial intelligence applied to satellite imagery. Tarek worked at the French Space Agency before evolving into strategy and business development activities. He has led international business development activities in an SME, a large European IT group and the world leader of the satellite-based service provider before starting his own company, Murmuration. At Murmuration, the team is striving to quantify the sustainability of the tourism industry and its vulnerability to climate change scenarios. Murmuration provides quantified environmental indicators dedicated to the sustainable management of tourism activities.
Dr Nixon is an Assistant Professor in the School of Applied Data Science at MODUL University Vienna, Austria. His research interests cover the visual classification of photography to automatically extract the touristic destination image from social networks such as Instagram; the use of deep learning for predictive analytics in open domains such as predicting the next trending topic in online channels; the extraction and modelling of knowledge, e.g. about events, in graph structures and their combination with neural networks to improve computational understanding of the world. He won the BEST PAPER award at the ENTER e-tourism conference in 2022 for his work on a Visual Destination Classifier.
Luca Romozzi is the Commercial Director of Europe at Sojern. He manages the team dedicated to partnerships with large companies (Corporate) and destinations (DMOs) and he manages our sales team across Europe. He has over 17 years of experience in the world of tourism, digital technology and destination marketing. Before joining Sojern, he worked for more than 10 years during the Expedia Media Solutions team’s expansion into EMEA. He holds a degree in Business Administration from Bocconi University and completed a Master in Tourism Economics and Management from Ciset Ca’ Foscari in Venice.
