On 27 June, ETC, in partnership with Euronews, hosted the inaugural Destination Europe Summit in Brussels, bringing together EU policymakers, destinations and industry leaders.
Against the backdrop of Europe’s strong tourism recovery, the summit explored how the sector can remain competitive as it moves towards a more sustainable and resilient future. EU Commissioner for Internal Market Thierry Breton shared his perspective on the future of Europe’s single market and the sector’s performance following the pandemic, while Glenn Fogel, CEO of Booking.com, reflected on the changing travel landscape and the role of technology in tourism.
With discussions on the future of Schengen visas, AI in tourism, sustainable travel and more, the summit provided valuable insights into the challenges and opportunities for European tourism.
The event marked an important step in ETC’s efforts to bring tourism stakeholders together, foster closer relationships with EU decision-makers and support the long-term competitiveness of Destination Europe.
Expanding its reach beyond Brussels, the summit was also live-streamed online and featured coverage on Euronews’ TV and digital platforms.
