The European Travel Commission (ETC) held its 110th General Meeting in Iceland, hosted by the Icelandic Tourist Board, bringing together representatives from 28 national tourism organisations and 15 associate members to discuss current tourism developments and agree on priorities for the months ahead.
Set in the striking surroundings of the Blue Lagoon, the meeting provided an inspiring setting for open exchange and collaboration. ETC was also pleased to welcome new associate members to the organisation: Rome2Rio, Trip.com, TIKI, Alturos and Resonance, whose expertise will further strengthen ETC’s collaboration with the wider tourism industry.
A highlight of the programme was the Industry Forum, “Tourism and Communities: Building bridges amid unbalanced growth”, which explored how European destinations can balance tourism development with residents’ wellbeing and strengthen the relationship between visitors and the places they experience. During the Forum ETC members signed the Reykjavik Declaration, “Tourism for Europe, Europe for Tourism”, a joint commitment by 35 member national tourism organisations to place communities and residents at the heart of Europe’s tourism future.
ETC extends its warm thanks to the Icelandic hosts and to all participants for their engagement and contributions in making the 110th General Meeting a meaningful step forward for partnership and common direction.
