ETC China Chapter celebrates 10th Anniversary

The China Chapter of the European Travel Commission (ETC) marked the occasion of its 10th Anniversary with a celebratory evening reception. The event successfully brought ETC Members together with more than 70 representatives of the wider travel industry, airlines, media, as well as famous travel influencers. The reception reflected on ETC’s eventful journey over the past decade and looked forward to a future reunion.

Addressing the audience virtually, ETC’s Executive Director, Mr. Eduardo Santander introduced the work that ETC has done throughout the past ten years in the Chinese market :

“A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. We started working in China 10 years ago and experienced various opportunities and challenges. The cultures of Europe and China are different. As we gradually integrate and learn about Chinese culture, I would like to thank all partners in China and Europe for their joint efforts to build a solid bridge of friendship between China and Europe, which allows us to carry out our promotion work in China well, and also allows us to join hands with each other to overcome the difficulties.”

Recently, ETC announced a new Chairmanship in China, headed by Franka Gulin, the (Croatian National Tourist Board), David Wu (Visit Finland) and Tiago Brito (Visit Portugal). Ms. Gulin officially introduced the new Chairmanship team to all attendees, followed by pre-recorded messages and speeches from ETC Members. The team reiterated that it will remain committed to lead the China Chapter in further deepening its knowledge about the Chinese market, promote the development of Chinese-European cooperation platforms, obtain and exchange market information as well as to and seek in-depth cooperation between the Chinese and European travel industries.

Although travel to Europe has not yet recovered, Chinese audiences’ love for Europe has not diminished in the slightest. In line with the theme of the event, an interactive installation with green screen technology was specially set up on site to allow guests to immersive themselves in European experiences and sceneries. Guests were invited onto the stage to share their inspiring stories about Europe with the help of their photos. After the ceremony, guests could participate in interactive sessions and lucky draws. The event was not only a celebration of the 10th anniversary of the China Chapter, but also a warm gathering of old friends.
