SENTIMENT SURVEY & INDEX
The latest issue of the Long-Haul Travel Barometer indicates that travel intentions in Europe’s key long-haul source markets – USA, China, Brazil, Japan, and Russian Federation for this peak season (May to August) have slightly weakened compared to a year ago. Data collected confirms the attractiveness of European destinations in respondents’ minds but also reflects the impact of safety and security concerns as well as geopolitical uncertainties.
Across all markets, Europe’s natural scenery and famous landmarks stand out as top travel motivators for this summer. With nearly, one in five (17%) survey respondents expressing interest in finding related activities. In terms of the most popular destinations in Europe’s long-haul markets, France (36%), Italy (29%) and Germany (26%) continue to lead the wish list among potential visitors.
