Long-Haul Travel Barometer 9/2017

Publication date:
Jul 2017

The Long-Haul Travel Sentiment Survey & Index captures people’s intention to travel abroad, their motivations and barriers to travel, as well as key characteristics of their trip. Results are based on 1,000 interviews conducted in five key markets – Brazil, China, Japan, the Russian Federation and the USA, every four months. The stratified sample is representative of the travel population of each market. The survey monitors respondents’ intention to travel outside the region of residence (e.g. North America for the USA). The only exception is the Russian Federation, where the intention to travel outside the Commonwealth of Independent States is measured. The survey is not meant to quantify prospect demand levels.

The project is realised with the support of the European Travel Association (ETOA), Eurail Group G.I.E. and TCI Research. Full results are available to the members of partner organisations only.

Covered period:  May – August 2017
