Publication date:
Oct 2020

This project monitors the sentiment, drivers and behaviours for domestic and intra-European travel in ten high-volume European source markets – Germany, United Kingdom, France, Netherlands, Italy, Belgium, Switzerland, Spain, Poland and Austria. Key findings and recommendations for destinations and tourism authorities will be made available in six monthly reports starting in September 2020.

Research highlights – Wave 1

  • More than 1 in 2 respondents indicated that they intend to take a trip in the next six months, with the majority (80%) planning to travel within Europe
  • Health and safety (21%) along with piece of mind (14%) are the most important factors for Europeans who are planning to travel
  • The survey emphasizes the urgency of a harmonised approach for tourism recovery in Europe, with quarantine measures being the primary concern for short-term travel

This project is co-funded by the European Union.
