Performance of European Tourism Before, During and Beyond the Covid-19 Pandemic

This study pictures the performance of European tourism over the past decade and the effect of Covid-19 on the sector. The report was prepared in partnership with Atout France and focuses on the importance of intra-European tourism, the trends observed before and during the pandemic, and expectations for the future. The report is divided into 3 sections:

• Pre-Pandemic Trends in European Tourism (2010-2019)
• European Travel and Tourism During the Pandemic
• European Tourism Outlook

Important: The preparation and completion of this report had taken place before the Russian invasion of Ukraine began. Therefore, Section 3 “European Tourism Outlook” of the report does not consider the potential implications of the conflict on the European tourism ecosystem.
