ETC Webinar – Climate Action Planning Framework

The European Travel Commission (ETC) is hosting a webinar presenting ETC’s recent report, Roadmap for National Tourism Organisations Towards Climate Action in Destinations. This session will offer practical guidance on climate action planning for tourism destinations, streamlining the drafting process and providing support and direction.

Produced by AGEG Tourism for Sustainability, the report is designed to inspire and support destinations to navigate each stage of developing a climate action plan.

During this 45-minute webinar, the framework’s author will guide participants through the report’s key insights and demonstrate how to use the templates effectively. Experts from National Tourism Organisations (NTOs) and leading destinations will also share real-world experiences and best practices based on the case studies featured in the report.

Barbara Fritz

Barbara Fritz is a senior sustainable tourism expert with over 20 years of experience in sustainable tourism development, promotion, and marketing across Europe, Latin America, and the Middle East. She is the founder and managing director of AGEG Tourism for Sustainability Consulting, specialising in stakeholder-oriented tourism strategies. Barbara has advised over 50 destinations on sustainability, action planning, and environmental performance and has led numerous multi-stakeholder projects as a senior expert, team leader, and project director, ensuring resource-efficient and outcome-driven solutions.

Teodora Marinska

Teodora Marinska serves as the Chief Operating Officer and Head of Public Affairs at the European Travel Commission (ETC). At the forefront of ETC’s climate action and sustainability efforts, Teodora drives forward the organisation’s mission to promote Europe as a premier travel destination while prioritising environmental stewardship and community engagement.

Liisa Kokkarinen

Liisa Kokkarinen is Visit Finland’s leading expert in sustainable development. At Visit Finland she is behind Visit Finland’s Climate Action Plan, coordinates the collaboration of 89 Finnish Glasgow signatories and heads the national Sustainable Travel Finland program, a low tress-hold development program to assist Finnish travel companies and destinations to adapt sustainable practices. Experienced and educated in Arctic matters and sustainable development, Liisa is always seeking solutions to decarbonise, reduce inequalities and for ways to leave places better.

Maja Turnšek

Maja Turnšek is Associate Professor at University of Maribor, Faculty of Tourism, Slovenia. Her research interests cover the intersections of climate change, communication, and algorithmic management in tourism. She has been the lead researcher of the national research project “Climate change and sustainable tourism in Slovenia” with the focus both on climate change adaptation and mitigation. Some of the project outputs available in English are the project report for the industry and the scientific report on climate adaptation needs of Slovenian tourism.
